What got you started?

Watching my mother sing around our hometown in Savannah, Georgia; I joined the choir at a young age of 3 and been singing ever since... any time I have the chance.

What has changed since you started out?

I started to take my passion for singing and the love of music more seriously after the great feelings and feedback I received for just simply expressing myself. I was a hobbyist, now this has become my career, a fulfilled lifestyle for me as a creative professional.

What has been the biggest surprise/lesson along the way?

I took a break from the light to work behind the scenes and while doing so I began songwriting and demoing songs for other artist; during these times I had lost my voice in a sense of I didn't know what I sounded like or what music I wanted to make because I was so focused on sounding like the artist I was shopping music to. Once I realised I had lost my artistry and identity in music, I had to do some soul searching all around which allowed me to become the woman I am in music today.

What would you do if you were not doing this/making music?

I believe I would still be in the arts, my parents/family has always encouraged entertainment on me. I was a Gerber baby in the very year I was born and enrolled in all the best magnet schools in my town; so, I was always involved in extracurricular activities. Even now when I am not musically inspired, I am creating films with my filmmaker friends or building websites for new brands.

Do you have any advice for other musicians?

Just be vulnerable with your creativity that's the only way you can truly express yourself as an artist. Being real is undeniable - make your music undeniable by being real to yourself.

What are you working on right now?

Now that I have moved my talents to Los Angeles, California; I've been presented with many new opportunities that I am exploring. Musically, I am really focused on my official album with live instrumentation, I am an old rusty saxophone player but I'm feeling jazzy again so I am really working on including that sound in my debut album of 12 original songs. I am also mentoring aspiring songwriters to transition to their own form of artistry.
